Kairon Victor Newton is always on the lookout for new trends to bring to the readers. Today read what’s hot for the ear.
FLASHBACK! You’re 4 years old and you’re being taken to get your ears pierced. The man or woman behind the counter has you sit, grabs your tiny soft little ear lobes and POP, a sudden bite of pain and it’s over.
FLASHFORWARD! You’re walking down the high streets of Port of Spain, Trinidad and window-stalking a pair of gorgeous rose gold hoops you’ve had your eye on for sometime now – and they’re perfect! They’re small, symmetrical, shiny and not an imperfection in sight – they are a must have in your accessory arsenal!
But hold up! Sorry to break it to you, but those earrings are soooo last season. We’ve been doing some stalking at Adornami too; to find the latest trends for wearing this classic piece. So put those simple hoops at the back of your mind for now – here are 3 new ways to wear your earrings this season.
1.THE CROSSOVER EARRING
Earrings are being shown on the Fall/Winter 2016-2017 runways either crossed over or under the earlobe or the entire ear! This bold approach was spotted at Saint Laurent Paris by Hedi Slimane and Alexander McQueen in particular, who focused on highly bedazzled and “blinged-out” ear candy!

2.THE SINGLE LOBE
Long, chunky, gemstoned or jeweled, it’s clear that this season all you need is one earring – not one pair – just one! This quirky trend started at New York Fashion Week, crossed over to London and was then spotted at Paris Fashion Week as part of the collections of Anthony Vaccarello and Mugler. Probably one of the more daring earring trends this season, we can’t help but get excited by the creative opportunity this gives us! Street style enthusiasts take note!

3. THE ASYMMETRIC APPROACH
You have two ears, why wear the same earring right? We told you above that those rose gold hoops, as gorgeous as they are, just aren’t making the cut this season! One of the biggest trends this season is the asymmetric approach to earrings – mixing and matching lengths, shapes and designs to create an individual look. Spotted at Dior and Sonia Rykiel, this trend allows you to use your existing earrings (or splurge on a new funky pair! We won’t judge) but just remember, different is good!

So perhaps you should reconsider those simple hoops, they’re nice, yes, but who settles for just “nice” in 2016?
